UEFA announced on Wednesday that it has imposed a fine of £15,200 ($19,000) on Celtic after their fans raised Palestinian flags during a match against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last month in Glasgow. UEFA stated in a statement that the flags, which numbered in the hundreds, were deemed "provocative messages of an offensive nature." The fans, who had been warned by the Scottish club not to raise the flags before the match on October 25, sang "You’ll Never Walk Alone" while holding the Palestinian flags. The supporters also displayed large banners at Celtic Park reading "Free Palestine" and "Victory to the Resistance."
