Alves is facing accusations of sexually assaulting a woman at a nightclub in Barcelona last December. Authorities arrested Alves on January 20 and have held him in a jail outside Barcelona without bail. If found guilty, Alves, 40, could face a prison sentence ranging from four to 15 years. The Brazilian player has stated that he had consensual sex with the woman who is accusing him. The prosecution is seeking a nine-year prison sentence for Alves. Alves is one of the most successful footballers in history, having won over 40 titles during his career playing for clubs like Barcelona, Sevilla, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain.
