Jail Sentence for Arab Beauty Queen on Drug Trafficking Charges

After nearly a year of her arrest, an Algerian court sentenced North African beauty queen Wahida Krouj to 8 years in prison and a fine of about 20,000 euros, while her husband, who remains at large, received a life sentence. The court in El Harrach, Algeria, sentenced Krouj, ordering the confiscation of a Mercedes vehicle from her. Three other detained defendants received the same penalty. Her husband, Anis Jawara, and another accomplice who are both fugitives received life sentences. All are accused of drug possession, storage, and illegal sale within an organized criminal group.
