Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during his attendance at the naval military parade in Saint Petersburg alongside several African leaders that "the Russian Navy will receive 30 new ships this year." The head of state will showcase naval warships in the waters of the Gulf of Finland and the Neva River, in the Kronstadt area, and will congratulate the crew members on Navy Day. The event will traditionally include both maritime and land displays, with this year featuring 45 ships, boats, and submarines, in addition to about three thousand military personnel. The parade will conclude with a ceremonial march of the military display crews. Naval displays will also take place in significant Russian ports such as Vladivostok, Baltiysk, Severomorsk, Kaspiysk, and Novorossiysk, as well as in Tartus, Syria. In the evening, fireworks will be launched in Petersburg and Kronstadt to celebrate Navy Day.
