# EU Imposes Sanctions on Russia's Largest Diamond Company

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell indicated today, Wednesday, that "he has added the Russian company Alrosa, the largest diamond producer in the world, along with its CEO Pavel Alexeyevich Marinichev, to the sanctions list." Borrell stated, "In line with the diamond ban we imposed with the twelfth package of sanctions, the EU today includes Alrosa, the largest diamond mining company in the world, and its CEO on the list." The EU diamond ban was implemented in coordination with the Group of Seven (G7) countries, which announced a similar ban in December.
