WFP Suspends Food Assistance in Some Areas of Sudan

The World Food Programme (WFP) stated that it has temporarily suspended food assistance in certain areas of Sudan's Al-Jazira state, as fighting expands to the south and east of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum. The program mentioned that around 300,000 people fled Al-Jazira within days when clashes erupted there last week. Eddy Roy, the WFP representative and director in Sudan, explained that the agency has halted the delivery of food assistance in some regions of Al-Jazira, noting that teams are working around the clock to provide assistance in areas where it is still possible.
