Russia Calls on Israel to Ratify the Chemical Weapons Convention

Russia has called on Israel to urgently ratify the Chemical Weapons Convention, expressing serious concern over "the threat of the Israeli army using chemical weapons." Russian representative to the organization, Alexander Shulgin, stated, "We are concerned about media reports regarding the threat posed by Israel to use chemical weapons or chemical substances in violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention." Shulgin urged Israel to "urgently ratify the Chemical Weapons Convention." The convention prohibits the production, development, possession, storage, retention, transfer, or use of chemical weapons by member states.
