The President of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, Dr. Pierre Jalakh, praised the conciliatory role played by Sheikh Talal Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah during the 42nd General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, held in Bangkok, Thailand. The assembly included the election of a new board of directors for a term of four years, attended by Dr. Jalakh and Executive Committee member and Treasurer, lawyer François Saade.
Dr. Jalakh commended Sheikh Talal's role during the elections, especially considering the strong competition with Dr. Hussein Musallam, and the wisdom he exhibited in fostering unity within the Olympic Council of Asia. Sheikh Talal won the presidency with 24 votes against 20 for Dr. Musallam. Dr. Jalakh also praised Sheikh Talal's wisdom and intelligence, noting that during a meeting with him, attended by Lawyer Saade, the Sheikh expressed his love for Lebanon and willingness to enhance cooperative relations between the council and the Lebanese Olympic Committee.
Dr. Jalakh congratulated Sheikh Talal Fahad and wished him success in his new position, commending the cooperation and support for Lebanon from his father Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmed, may he rest in peace, and his brother Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad. The Lebanese delegation also held another meeting with Dr. Musallam as part of its engagements with Asian Olympic figures to reaffirm Lebanon's presence on the continental Olympic map, emphasizing that the Lebanese participation in this event was fruitful and constructive, which will lead to good outcomes in the future.
