American actress Cynthia Nixon, along with a group of activists, is staging a hunger strike in front of the White House, demanding President Joe Biden to enforce a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Activists shared videos of the five-day strike on social media and through Western media on Tuesday, according to organizers. In statements to reporters, Nixon said the hunger strike is a protest against the high number of casualties in Gaza due to Israeli bombardment, adding, "We are going on hunger strike to show Biden the nature of deprivation occurring in Gaza, and how he has the power to enforce a ceasefire." She noted that she is "a mother of Jewish children, grandchildren of Holocaust survivors."
