Brazilian forward Marta (37 years old) stated that she feels "amazing" as she prepares to participate in the Women's World Cup for the sixth time, and that the tournament hosted by Australia and New Zealand will be her last. She added, "Yes, this will be my last World Cup. We need to understand that it's time to prioritize other things. I must be grateful for having lived all those years with the national team. To have the opportunity to go to the World Cup again, my sixth World Cup, is something amazing."
Marta underwent surgery to treat a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her knee last year and returned to the national team in February after an 11-month absence. She first participated in the World Cup in 2003 and is Brazil's all-time leading scorer with 117 goals. She has won the Copa América three times but has not yet lifted the World Cup trophy.
