France accused Iran on Tuesday of violating Iraq's sovereignty after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced it had struck an Israeli "spy base" in the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq. The French Foreign Ministry stated: "Such actions represent a flagrant, unacceptable, and worrisome violation of Iraq's sovereignty, an assault on its stability and security as well as on the stability of Kurdistan within it... They contribute to escalating regional tensions and must cease."
