The train, Venice-Simplon-Orient-Express, will travel from the French city of Paris to the Italian village of Portofino over two days in June. In November, the company ceased operating the British Pullman service that connects the Paris-Venice route. Despite the train's name (VSOE), the new route will not reach anywhere near Venice. The train will depart from Paris at 3 PM and will conclude its journey in Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy, the next day at 1 PM. Guests will then be transported to the village of Portofino and will check in for two nights at the famous Splendido Hotel. The tickets are one-way! In fact, you can return to the cities of Genoa and Milan via a crowded regional train before continuing your journey back to Paris on the high-speed Frecciarossa train. Prices start at around $8,525 per person for three nights. In reality, passengers will enjoy a luxurious experience for their money. The menus are curated by Michelin-starred chef Jean Imbert, and any drinks will be accompanied either by a resident pianist or a swing band in the evening.
