Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during a meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday that relations between Russia and the UAE have reached an unprecedented level. Putin stated in remarks broadcasted on television that the situation in Ukraine and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will be among the topics of discussion.
For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said, "The UAE has historical relations with Russia that have developed over the past years in various fields.” He added, “We appreciate the role of the Russian president in strengthening the relations between our two countries.” He indicated that "we are pleased to continue enhancing bilateral relations with Russia and expanding fields of cooperation for further growth and development in the coming period."
Putin is visiting the UAE and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, in a rare foreign trip that will see discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on oil, OPEC+, and the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.
