Qatar Supports Lebanon, According to Dar Al-Fatwa

Minister of Economy and Trade in the caretaker government, Amin Salam, informed the Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, at Dar Al-Fatwa about the outcome of a recent visit to Qatar and the many positive meetings held there. Salam stated that the goal of these meetings was to support educational and religious institutions in Lebanon, as well as to assist Lebanese families facing difficult circumstances in the country. He added, "There is a topic we raised during our visit to Qatar regarding the economy; we spoke extensively about the issue of energy in Lebanon."

Salam also noted, "The good thing I can say is that the exchange rate of the dollar remains stable as a result of decisions made over the past six months in coordination between us and the Bank of Lebanon and some financial institutions in the country. However, in terms of prices, we will not be comfortable until the economic activity returns to normal, during which the issue of electricity improves, and we achieve reasonable economic movement in the country. But today, with the movement in the country and the paralysis of the banking sector, we will remain in a state of instability."
