Mikati Chairs Meeting to Discuss Electricity Situations in Nahr al-Bared

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati is currently chairing a meeting at the Grand Serail dedicated to discussing the electricity conditions in Nahr al-Bared. The meeting includes Energy Minister Walid Fayyad, MP Ahmed al-Khair, Head of the Civil Service Council Nasreen Mushmoushi, and the Director General of the Lebanese electricity authority Kamal Hayek.

Earlier in the day, Mikati received Charles Arbid, the head of the Economic and Social Council, who stated after the meeting: "I briefed the Prime Minister on the meetings the Economic and Social Council is working on regarding Syrian displacement. We have invited parliamentary blocs and research centers to participate in a survey we are conducting that includes 12 points, such as the competition of Lebanese labor, competition of small businesses, education and curricula integration, healthcare, security and crime, detainees and overcrowded prisons, smuggling and border control, infrastructure, relations with municipalities, personal status and births, humanitarian aid programs, and cash flow."

He added: "We will gather all the ideas and responses we receive for a solution, and we are looking for feasible solutions to alleviate the existing tensions in some areas."

### Meeting with the Arab-African Friendship Association

Mikati also met with a delegation from the "Arab-African Friendship Association" led by Ali Mourad, who said after the meeting: "We informed the Prime Minister about the activities of the association in Arab and African countries, as well as the plan to open its main office in Beirut, in addition to offices in Doha, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Uganda, Burundi, and Kinshasa, Congo. We also updated him on a conference that the association will sponsor in Bujumbura, Burundi, and we assured him of our commitment to support the association's efforts and objectives both in Lebanon and in Arab and African countries."
