Former U.S. President Donald Trump used his first public appearance since being indicted federally to escalate his attack on the Justice Department. He accused prosecutors of launching a baseless campaign motivated by political reasons aimed at removing him from the White House. Speaking at a Republican conference in Georgia, Trump claimed that "Democratic President Joe Biden orchestrated the criminal charges to undermine his presidential campaign."
The Justice Department emphasizes that "all its investigation decisions are made without regard to partisan politics." Trump's remarks came just a day after prosecutors revealed a charge sheet containing 37 counts against the former president, stating that he mishandled classified documents that included some of the nation's most sensitive security secrets after leaving the White House in 2021.
