Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE National Security Adviser, met yesterday, Friday, at the White House in Washington, D.C., with Jake Sullivan, the U.S. National Security Advisor, to reaffirm the strong strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the United States and to discuss a range of international and regional issues of mutual concern.
Both sides praised the important and diverse partnerships between the two countries, with the U.S. National Security Advisor commending the UAE's efforts and preparations to host the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) this November in Expo Dubai, as well as its global leadership in clean energy technologies, including the partnership between the U.S. and the UAE to accelerate the transition to clean energy.
The two sides emphasized the importance of building reliable technological ecosystems and using advanced technology to enhance human well-being in the Middle East and around the world, and they pledged to strengthen cooperation within the framework of the partnership for global infrastructure and investment.
Jake Sullivan reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the security of the UAE and its partners in the region and to working diplomatically to ease conflicts and tensions in the area.
The two sides discussed ways to deepen cooperation based on the Abraham Accords, including the I2U2 group (which includes the UAE, India, the U.S., and Israel), as well as shared goals for a more integrated, prosperous, and stable Middle East. Both sides expressed their desire for continued close communication on these and other issues.
