Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Elias Boussab confirmed during an interview with the program "It's About Time" that "the American stance is to encourage the election of a president and they have no candidate, nor have they adopted a specific candidate." He stated, "I have not proposed any name for the presidency; rather, I have been looking for common grounds, and there was an error in sending messages from France to the MPs regarding the presidential election." He continued, "The army commander told me that he is not a candidate and does not want the presidency, but since he now wants it, I will treat him as a presidential candidate, and if he runs, I will vote with a blank ballot because I want a president with clear positions." He added, "What I have tried to do in terms of the presidential crisis is to seek common grounds to sit around one table." He pointed out that the study of Block 9 is very similar to the Karish field and the area is very promising, expressing concern about the situation in Tripoli: "There is fear of the events in Ain al-Hilweh spreading outside the camp, and there is concern for Tripoli."
