Officials reported that 24 people have died due to lightning strikes, and around 23 others were injured in rain-related incidents in Gujarat, India, over the past two days as rainfall continued until Monday morning. According to data from the state government, Gujarat experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and hail on Sunday and today, with some areas receiving as much as 144 mm of rain during the 24 hours ending Monday morning. The rains have damaged homes and caused loss of livestock across the state. Gujarat's Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel stated on Monday, "We will start a survey soon to assess the losses incurred," adding that compensation will be provided to the victims based on the survey results. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted continued rainfall in parts of the state on Monday.
