The Iraqi Civil Defense Directorate announced today, Wednesday, that a fire that broke out in seven commercial warehouses in Baghdad has been extinguished. The directorate stated that "its teams extinguished a large fire that erupted inside seven warehouses covered with highly flammable sandwich panel sheets, in violation of safety instructions issued by the Civil Defense Directorate. The warehouses contained a variety of spare parts for motorcycles in the Al-Dhilal Company area on Palestine Street in Baghdad, Rusafa, under the supervision of the Civil Defense Director, Legal Brigadier General Mohsen Kazem Alak."
It added that "the teams were mobilized, deploying over thirty specialized and supporting firefighting vehicles in the Rusafa side of Baghdad, managing to surround the flames, isolating the burning warehouses from nearby ones, and successfully entering the warehouses to gain full control over the fire without recording any human injuries while minimizing material damage."
The Civil Defense Directorate explained that "it has requested an investigation to be opened at the police station responsible for the geographic area and to summon a forensic expert to determine the initial cause of the fire and hold accountable those who neglected to implement the safety procedures issued by the Civil Defense Directorate despite previous warnings from the directorate."
