NATO: Iran Must Restrain Hamas and Hezbollah

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg alleged that "Iran must not exacerbate the situation and must restrain Hamas and Hezbollah," indicating that "the alliance has no role in the ongoing conflict (in Gaza), but some of its members are engaged in it." He noted that "the situation in Gaza is different from Ukraine, as it has not attacked Russia and has the right to defend itself." On the other hand, Stoltenberg confirmed that "international law must be applied in all conflicts, but the wars in Ukraine and Gaza are completely different," addressing accusations of double standards in the West. In response to a question on this matter, Stoltenberg stated, "My message is that international law and humanitarian law must be respected in all conflicts, and civilian lives must always be protected." He added, "It is also important to recognize that the situation in Gaza and the situation in Ukraine differ in many ways... Ukraine never posed a threat to Russia, nor did Ukraine ever attack Russia."
