The Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, announced that "the blockade on Gaza and the prevention of food, water, and fuel means punishing two million people, most of whom are women and children." He pointed out today, Friday, that "the organization will not be able to complete its work without securing fuel, emphasizing the necessity for continuous and uninterrupted aid flow." Lazzarini added that "the few trucks arriving in the region will not make a difference for the residents," confirming that they "are directing aid to those in greatest need." He stated, "57 of our colleagues have been killed in the ongoing war in Gaza," stressing the need to protect civilians and hospitals during attacks. He added, "History will judge us all unless the bombing of Gaza stops. We cannot equate the residents of Gaza with Hamas, as that is misleading. It is impossible to ignore the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza."
