The Electricity of Lebanon announced in a statement that "based on the circular from the Prime Minister which requested all public administrations, public institutions, municipalities, municipal federations, councils, and funds to work on settling their overdue payments to the Electricity of Lebanon, and based on the recommendation of the Public Works, Transport, Energy, and Water Committee, the Electricity of Lebanon requests public administrations, public institutions, and water facilities, along with other public sector entities in various Lebanese regions, to comply with paying their electricity consumption bills to the Electricity of Lebanon, in cash with Fresh Lebanese Liras (i.e., not via zero transfers) into the institution's account at the Central Bank of Lebanon according to its guidelines, whether for overdue bills or for the new bills for the months of November and December 2022 that have started to be distributed to these administrations and institutions, so that the Electricity of Lebanon does not have to cut off electricity to those who fail to settle their payments as per the applicable laws and regulations."
