The Director of Civil Protection in Bejaia, Algeria, reported that a fire broke out in a forest in the Ich Bazz area of the province, prompting the evacuation of populated areas to avoid any risks. The Director confirmed that a mobile unit from Bejaia, along with support units from Bouira, Setif, and Bordj Bou Arreridj, has been mobilized. It was clarified that, so far, no human or material losses have been recorded, as areas with residents are being evacuated to prevent any hazards.
Algerian media reported a massive fire erupting in the high forests of the Saket region within the Bejaia municipality, with the fire spreading towards populated areas of Ich Bazz and Boulimat, reaching the borders with the Touja municipality. The firefighting efforts are still ongoing in both the Mahwi area of the Tichy municipality and Ich Bazz in Bejaia. Additionally, it was noted that Civil Protection services are working alongside the Algerian National Army to address any potential dangers arising from this fire.
