On Thursday, the FIFA announced Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland as the finalists for the Best Player in the World award for 2023. Norwegian Haaland helped Manchester City win three major titles: the UEFA Champions League, the English Premier League, and the FA Cup last season. Messi won the award in 2022 after leading Argentina to victory in the World Cup. Following this success, he secured the Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain alongside Mbappe before moving to Inter Miami in Major League Soccer. The shortlist for Best Player includes two champions from the 2023 World Cup, Aitana Bonmatí and Jenni Hermoso from Spain, alongside Linda Caicedo representing Colombia. The winners will be announced on January 15 in London.
