Angola National Team First to Reach African Cup Quarterfinals

The Angola national team secured the first qualification spot for the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations held in Côte d'Ivoire by defeating Namibia 3-0 in the Round of 16 on Saturday. The Angolan team's goals were scored by Gastinho Dala (two goals) and Cristóvão Paciência in the 48th, 38th, and 66th minutes, respectively. Both teams finished the match with ten players after Namibia's Lubini Haokong was sent off in the 40th minute and Angola's Sun Da Cruz in the 17th minute. This is the first time Angola has reached the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup. Angola awaits the winner of the match later today between Nigeria and Cameroon.
