Twenty-five years after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, New York saw the symbolic return of its Twin Towers to the skyline for one special night. These towers were not crafted from steel and glass but were formed by 2,977 lights that illuminated the harbor sky, creating a temporary memorial.
The project, named "2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor," was unveiled on the evening of September 9 as part of the 25th-anniversary commemorations. Each light represented a life lost on that fateful day.
The lights began as a spiral, ascending and gradually merging to recreate the architectural scale of the towers. For fleeting moments, the structures appeared in the spot etched in the city's memory before fading back into darkness.
According to the organizers, the display was designed with contributions from victims' families, survivors, and first responders involved in the rescue operations.
