Borrell: There is a Need for UNRWA to Continue Its Work Amid Investigations

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell stated on Monday that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) needs to be able to continue its operations while investigations are ongoing into allegations that some of its 13,000 employees in Gaza participated in the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7. Borrell remarked before a meeting of EU development ministers in Brussels, "No one else can do what UNRWA does; these allegations need to be verified. Let's wait for the investigations." He added, "In the meantime, people need to continue to eat and see doctors."
