American Detained in Russia on Drug Charges

A court in Moscow indicated today, Tuesday, that an American has been detained on drug possession charges, which could carry a penalty of up to 20 years in prison. The Russian news site "Mash" reported that Woodland (32 years old) is accused of attempting to illegally produce and sell drugs in large quantities. The site added that he was arrested on January 5. The Ostankino District Court in Moscow clarified that it was decided on January 6 to keep Robert Romanov Woodland in custody until March 5 on drug possession charges. Woodland holds both Russian and American passports.
