Reports state that "the death toll has risen to five, as the rain swept away cars and forced residents in ground-floor apartments to evacuate." A bridge collapsed near the city of Pistoia, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Another person died in the town of Rosignano. Italian media reported that the other two victims were elderly and lived in the small town of Montemurlo. The government is expected to declare a state of emergency, allowing for faster assistance to Tuscany.
