On Saturday, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued a statement that read: "As part of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to curb various crimes in all Lebanese regions and to pursue and arrest offenders, and after a rise in daytime thefts of car contents in Sidon, patrols from the South Investigative Division intensified their investigations to identify and apprehend the culprits. As a result of the follow-up, information was obtained regarding an individual breaking the window of a car in the Al-Kanayaat area of Sidon with the intent to steal it. Immediately, a patrol from the division headed to the mentioned area and was able to arrest the perpetrator, who was using a car for his operations, in the act, with assistance from citizens. It was found that he is identified as: M. D. (born in 1982, Palestinian). Upon searching him and the vehicle, recording devices and various industrial tools were found. During the investigation, he confessed that on previous occasions, he had stolen contents from four cars that were parked in the same area. The legal procedures were initiated against him, and he was detained, along with the seized items, at the Old Sidon police station for further legal action, based on judicial instructions."
