Kirby: The Classification of Houthis as a Terrorist Organization Will Take Effect After 30 Days

The spokesperson for the National Security Council, John Kirby, announced that the classification of Houthis as a terrorist organization will take effect after 30 days. He stated, "We will not hesitate to launch further strikes against the Houthis if they continue their attacks on international navigation," emphasizing that "the classification targets the Houthis, not the Yemeni people." He continued, "We are taking steps to ensure that the sanctions do not affect relief organizations and aid to the Yemeni people." He added, "We have conveyed our message to Iran regarding our concerns about the actions of the Houthis." He concluded, "If the Houthis stop these attacks, we will review their classification as a terrorist organization."
