Escalation against American Forces in Iraq Amid Biden's Threats

Just hours after Biden's threat to take action if American interests were targeted, the Iraqi front against American forces intensified. Joint forces in Iraq managed to shoot down an armed drone near the Ain al-Asad Airbase without any casualties. Two security sources reported that an armed drone targeted the Harir Airbase, which hosts American troops in Erbil, northern Iraq, today, Thursday, but was intercepted by air defenses.

In another incident, an explosive device targeted a joint convoy of American forces and the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service near the city of Mosul, northern Iraq, today, resulting in damage to a vehicle but no injuries.

A statement shared on social media reported explosions and fires at the American Harir base in Erbil just moments ago.

The American embassy in Baghdad and the U.S.-led international forces in Iraq have not yet responded to requests for comment. Later, the Islamic resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for targeting the Harir base with two drones that hit their targets directly.

President Joe Biden warned today that the "United States will strike targets linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and its affiliated groups again if necessary or if its bases are targeted."

In the first comment from the White House, it stated: "We will not tolerate attacks on American forces in Syria and Iraq." It continued: "Four attacks targeted American forces in Iraq and Syria in the past 24 hours, with only minor injuries recorded."
