Kuwait: Thwarted Terrorist Plot Targeting Places of Worship

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced today, Thursday, that "security agencies, represented by the State Security Service, succeeded in thwarting a plot by a terrorist cell that intended to target places of worship belonging to the Shia community and kill individuals." The General Administration of Relations and Security Media stated in a statement that "security personnel were able to monitor the cell, track its movements, and arrest three individuals of Arab nationality affiliated with a terrorist organization." It was noted that "all suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution to take legal action against them." Kuwait, which hosts several American military bases, experienced its deadliest attack in decades in 2015 when a Saudi suicide bomber detonated himself inside a crowded mosque, resulting in the deaths of 27 people. "ISIS" claimed responsibility for the attack.
