Samir Geagea: What is Happening with Government Formation is a Described Crime Against the Lebanese People

The head of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Geagea, stated that what is happening regarding the formation of the government is a described crime against the Lebanese people.

Geagea also noted that despite all the tragedies experienced by the Lebanese people, the described financial collapse, and the societal anxiety about the present and future, what is hindering government formation is not the disagreement over the nature of the required reforms, nor over which reformist minister is better than another, but all the disagreements revolve around who takes what. He described the situation as a tragic farce while the Lebanese people of all categories are suffering from the current crisis.

Samir Geagea remarked: "Indeed, it is a miserable time, there is no hope from the current ruling group, and the only solution is to go immediately to early parliamentary elections." He revealed that his utmost wish is to wake up and find parliamentary blocs resigning from the parliament along with the Lebanese Forces to go to early elections.

Geagea confirmed that his party will not carry arms again except in one case, which is the collapse of the army and security forces in the country, considering that "Hezbollah" is causing damage to the Lebanese people. During a special interview with the Lebanese newspaper "Al-Joumhuria," Geagea considered that the alliance of President Michel Aoun's party (the Free Patriotic Movement) with "Hezbollah" is what has led the country to its current state, claiming that the solution is early parliamentary elections to change the parliamentary majority.

Geagea asserted that the missiles owned by "Hezbollah" are Iranian missiles, and they are present to serve Iran’s project, evidenced by the statement made by the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's Air Force. He expressed his astonishment at the Iranian official’s words that he is ready to assist anyone who works to confront Israel, questioning: "Why doesn’t the Revolutionary Guard confront Israel directly?"

Samir Geagea mocked the statements of Hezbollah's Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in his speech yesterday when he said that "Iran and Syria are the primary supporters of the resistance in Lebanon," responding: "True, and the best evidence is the situation that the Lebanese people are living today in Lebanon." He also considered that the existence of "Hezbollah" in its current form causes significant harm to Lebanon and the Lebanese, especially economically and financially.
