The official spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, announced that at 6:50 PM on Tuesday, the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces destroyed a hostile drone launched by the Houthi terrorist militia before it could enter the prohibited airspace of the holy city of Mecca. The enemy drone was intercepted south of Mecca.
Brigadier General Al-Maliki emphasized that this hostile attempt marks the second attempt to target Mecca, following the launch of a ballistic missile on July 27, 2017.
Al-Maliki stated, "This action can only be described as disgraceful, as it aims to target the site of divine revelation and the land of the message, disturbing millions of Muslims worldwide. It seeks to terrorize the peaceful guests of the holy Kaaba and harm citizens and residents alike."
He added, "This hostile attempt will remain a black mark in the record of Houthi extremist and terrorist violations, as it is a deliberate act intended to provoke the feelings of millions of Muslims."
Brigadier General Al-Maliki affirmed that the security of the Two Holy Mosques and the pilgrims is a red line. He reiterated that the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition will not hesitate to take necessary and deterrent actions against the Houthi terrorist militia's aggressive behavior.
In the same context, political researchers have stressed that the Houthi militia deliberately targeting the Muslim Qibla "Mecca" is not merely a military act, but a direct assault on the faith of two billion Muslims, which exposes the false slogans of the Houthi militia backed by Iran. These claims of "supporting Islam and defending Al-Quds Al-Sharif by trying to target Mecca" are a project against Islam at its core and threaten the stability of the region that believers turn their hearts to, as highlighted by analysts.
