Britain announced its decision to join the United States in a "temporary halt" of funding directed to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip. The UK Foreign Office stated today, Saturday, that it is "horrified by the allegations of staff involvement in the October 7 attack against Israel, a heinous act of terrorism condemned by the UK government repeatedly." On Saturday, both the Netherlands and Finland decided to suspend their funding to UNRWA. In contrast, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry criticized what it described as an Israeli campaign against UNRWA, and Hamas condemned the termination of employee contracts "based on information derived from the Zionist enemy."
