India Provides Security for Shipping Vessels in the Red Sea

A government source indicated today, Friday, that "the Indian Ministry of Defense is providing security for Indian shipping vessels in the high seas of the Red Sea, amid the ongoing deterioration of the security situation there." The source, who requested anonymity, stated that "shipping vessels may face delays of up to 14 days in deliveries due to taking a longer maritime route around Africa, which also increases transportation and insurance costs." The source added, "The costs of shipping and insurance have risen because ships are forced to avoid the area and take a longer route." Ships are avoiding the Red Sea after the Houthi group intensified its attacks, which it has described as a response to the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip.
