Pope Francis Cancels Morning Engagements Due to Mild Influenza

The Vatican announced in a statement today, Saturday, that "Pope Francis has canceled his morning meetings due to a mild case of influenza." The Vatican's statement added: "Pope Francis underwent a CT scan today at a hospital in Rome to rule out any complications in the lungs." The statement further mentioned: "The scan showed that his lungs are in good condition, and the Pope has returned to his residence in the Vatican." Pope Francis, who is 86 years old, typically holds regular meetings with Vatican officials every Saturday, including a weekly meeting with the head of the Vatican department responsible for appointing bishops, in addition to private meetings. He was also scheduled to meet with the President of Guinea-Bissau.
