An oil monitoring agency in Nigeria and an environmental advocacy group reported that a pipeline owned by Shell in Nigeria has leaked crude oil in the Niger Delta. The Opobo-Agali pipeline in Rivers State, southern Nigeria, feeds into the Trans Niger pipeline, which pumps 180,000 barrels per day and is one of the two main export lines for Bonny Light crude. The pipeline had resumed operations this month after being shut down for maintenance in December. Local groups detected the leak on Friday and reported it to Shell Petroleum Development Company in Nigeria and the Nigerian Oil Spill Monitoring and Response Agency.
