Antalya is Flooding... Rain Not Seen in 50 Years

The rain, which intensified on Sunday evening in the Komluca and Finik regions of Antalya, turned into floods not seen in the Turkish city for 50 years. In Komluca particularly, the water has flooded the ground floors and basements of many homes, and cars were damaged as they were swept away by the strong flow of floodwaters from streams. Komluca Mayor Mustafa Kuluoglu stated that greenhouses in the area, a hub for agricultural production, also suffered severe damage, saying, "We haven't seen anything like this in 50 years; the water suddenly rose and flooded the cars. We are on alert." He added, "Despite our efforts, we could not control the situation; I am very sorry for what has happened in our area. We want our citizens to be cautious to avoid loss of life." Schools have closed today due to the floods in the Komluca and Finik regions of Antalya, Turkey.
