The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Basil, during the opening of Dr. Yaqub Al-Labban Street in Minyeh, Tripoli, stated that "this is the convergence that builds our country, and we want to build and not destroy." He noted that Dr. Al-Labban is "the father of the poor," adding that "cooperation builds, while working to undermine the other destroys. Dialogue and convergence lead to electing a president for the republic and to building the country, distancing ourselves from the violations we experience daily against the constitution." Basil began a tour of Tripoli on Sunday afternoon, starting with a meeting with MP Taha Najji in his office on Al-Mi'tayn Street, followed by MP Faisal Karami, and continued with other leaders, ending at Mono Street in the port. A number of Tripoli residents protested against the visit, throwing eggs and tomatoes at Basil's convoy, while the army worked to maintain order and prevent any incidents.
