Canadian police announced today, Friday, that the six bodies recovered by the forces on Thursday from a swamp area on the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec belong to two families attempting to cross into the United States. Mohawk Leanne O'Brien, Deputy Chief of the Akwesasne Police Service, stated, "It is believed that the six individuals belong to two families, one of Romanian descent and the other believed to be Indian." She added, "The police believe that a baby from the Romanian family has not yet been located, and we will continue searching for it. We think all of them were trying to enter the United States illegally from Canada."
