British Foreign Office "Warns" Its Citizens Against Traveling to Lebanon

British Foreign Office

The British Embassy in Beirut distributed a statement on Tuesday updating its travel advice for Lebanon, indicating that the "British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office advises traveling to Lebanon only when necessary and discourages travel to certain areas in southern Lebanon." It noted that "British citizens should only travel to Lebanon if their journey is essential. We currently advise against traveling to the area south of the Litani River, which includes the Naqoura-Tyre-Saida-Beirut highway and the regions west of it."

It emphasized that "in addition, we continue to warn against traveling to the Hermel region, which includes the cities of Arsal, Ras Baalbek, Al-Qaa, Laboue, Nahle, Palestinian refugee camps, or within 5 kilometers of the Syrian border," confirming that "we are keeping our travel advice under continuous review. The situation is unpredictable and may deteriorate without notice."

It assured that "the consular team continues to provide assistance to British citizens in Lebanon around the clock and throughout the week."
