Title: Sudan's Foreign Ministry Announces Suspension of Cooperation with IGAD

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry stated in a statement today, Tuesday, that "Sudan has suspended its cooperation with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), which mediated to end the ongoing fighting for months between the army and the Rapid Support Forces." The Foreign Ministry mentioned in the statement that "the government suspended its dealings with IGAD after Sudan was included on the agenda of a meeting scheduled for January 18 in Kampala, Uganda, and invited the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemetti, to attend." IGAD had offered to mediate between the leaders of the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, through means that included hosting a meeting, which both sides had agreed to.
