The Health Ministry in Gaza announced today, Tuesday, that "5,791 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza since October 7, including 2,360 children." The ministry's statement noted, "704 Palestinians were killed in the last 24 hours alone."
For its part, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that it remains "unable to distribute fuel or essential life-saving health supplies to major hospitals in northern Gaza due to a lack of security guarantees." The organization called for an "immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons to allow safe delivery of health supplies and fuel throughout the Gaza Strip."
Palestinian Health Minister Mai Al-Kaila confirmed that "three hospitals in the Gaza Strip have gone out of service due to the depletion of fuel that powers the generators." During a press conference in Ramallah, Al-Kaila highlighted the urgent need for a safe corridor to transport the injured and critically ill patients for treatment in Egyptian hospitals.
