The United States Seeks Iraq's Assistance in Countering Militant Group Funding

A senior official from the U.S. Treasury Department revealed that the U.S. expects the Iraqi government to help identify and disrupt funding for Iranian-backed militant groups in the country, following a drone strike carried out by Iraqi militants that resulted in the deaths of three American soldiers. The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) stated that the attack on an American military site near the Jordanian-Syrian border on Sunday bears the "hallmarks of the Iraqi armed group Kata'ib Hezbollah," although a final assessment has not yet been made.
