The powerful typhoon "Doksuri" struck the northern coast of the Philippines today, Wednesday, with strong winds and heavy rainfall, resulting in flooding of rivers, power outages for thousands, and at least one confirmed death. The Chinese Meteorological Administration described the storm as a "severe typhoon" and expects it to maintain its strength as it moves toward Taiwan and the mainland of China. Authorities evacuated many residents to safe areas before the storm, which is accompanied by winds of 175 kilometers per hour.
The Philippine Disaster Management Agency reported that "one person has drowned as a result of the typhoon so far." The coast guard stated that "more than four thousand passengers are stranded at ports across the country due to the suspension of maritime travel in the Philippines." The Chinese Meteorological Administration forecasted that "Doksuri" will move northwest at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour, reaching the northeastern part of the South China Sea starting from Wednesday evening until Thursday morning.
