The U.S. Central Command announced in a statement today, Wednesday, that a U.S. military operation was conducted via helicopter in eastern Syria on April 8, resulting in the arrest of a prominent member and two associates of the Islamic State (ISIS). The command stated: "The arrest of Huwaidi al-Yemeni and his associates will disrupt the organization’s ability to plan and execute operations," noting that the operation did not result in the death or injury of civilians. Earlier this month, the U.S. military announced it had killed senior ISIS leader Khalid Ahmed al-Jabouri in Syria, stating he was responsible for planning attacks in Europe and Turkey and developing ISIS's command structure in Turkey.
