Iran Promises Firm Response to Attacks on Its Territory, Interests, or Nationals

Official media reported today, Wednesday, that Iran's envoy to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, warned that Tehran will respond decisively to any attack targeting its territory, interests, or nationals abroad. This statement from the envoy comes the day after U.S. President Joe Biden announced that he had decided how to respond to a drone attack carried out by Iraqi groups allied with Iran, which resulted in the deaths of American soldiers in Jordan, without providing further details. Several members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard were killed in Israeli strikes in Syria, with five of its members dying on January 20 and two others on December 25. Another Israeli airstrike on Monday hit what the Iranian Tasnim news agency described as an "Iranian military advisory center" in Syria, resulting in two deaths; however, Iran's envoy to Syria denied details regarding the target and stated that the victims were not Iranian.
